Common Flounder customizations

Force Flounder to always display two columns

To make Flounder use the two-column desktop layout, go to Appearance –> Customize in your admin, then in the “layout” panel, select “sidebar always on left.” Then save, and you’re good to go!

The following customizations require you to use a css plugin, such as the CSS module included in the Jetpack plugin, or create a child theme of Flounder.

Remove the content sidebar on pages

To remove the content sidebar on pages, you can use this bit of custom css in your child theme or css plugin:

#page .entry-content {
	margin: 0;
}
#page .entry-meta.sidebar-bg {
	display: none;
}

Make the header image square

To make the header image square, instead of circular, you can use this bit of custom css in your child theme or css plugin:

.site-branding {
	-webkit-border-radius: 0;
	-moz-border-radius: 0;
	border-radius: 0;
}

Make the header image opaque

To make the header image opaque instead of slightly transparent, you can use this bit of custom css in your child theme or css plugin:

.custom-header .site-branding {
     background-color: transparent;
}
